IC Trigger Foods and Matter Science Dietary Advice

One caveat: diet in IC is a very individual thing. When I read the list of foods that were deemed to be safe for IC, my reaction to the inclusion of some of them was “I WISH I could eat that!”              IC patient

The matter science dietary approach to IC is to determine personal trigger foods   This approach is hit and miss and makes it difficult to be sure what foods carry  the offending “molecules”  In the end it becomes virtual guesswork except for the obvious choices such as white chicken(good) or coffee(bad) for everyone   Confusion reigns

Matter Science Diet Approach

The elimination diet has been used for decades to help determine possible food allergies and has been used with mixed success for the IC community   Proponents push their “style ” of molecular hearsay and those who use it ponder what they’re doing wrong since they still have flares   In the end this molecular approach like all of the Western dietary strokes are anecdotal at best   When the approach doesn’t work the proponent of the diet responds “Oh you must be allergic!”

The difficulty with this approach is twofold   First a flare may occur for you but it is problematic to find which food was the offending agent    This leads to a  second problem which is the danger of walking yourself into a “dietary corner”    Literally food choices begin to be sectored away from the mainstream of choices such that nothing is safe anymore particularly when the flares are extremely painful

Other problems with this approach are the need for excessive diet diary entries and the possibility of interpreting foods that produce “an allergic reaction” when it is actually related to poor digestion(see the recent videos)  This applies to other sister related disorders such as GERD, IBS, chronic prostatitis, and fibromyalgia

 Ah! Removal of Dietary Guesswork

As I have written in previous blogs the food choices using an energy science nutritional approach removes food diaries and is elegant in its simplicity   Just follow the list at icdiet.com and you’re done!  Or if you want a more refined approach with more choices you can take the test at foodsheal.com and use the appropriate nutritional format for you mindbody energy makeup

The reason that this energy science approach works is because it is based on a philosophy and observations about the conscious workings of Nature Herself not on errant molecular observations, mythology, and guesswork.  When you ingest foods you are ingesting Nature’s universal qualities that make up you which creates balance or imbalance of those qualities   The imbalance causes all diseases and in your case IC

Because of this the energy makeup of the individual dictates food choices   If you have the inflammatory hot quality in excess then taking in more of that quality produces an imbalance and potentially a flare   This is a salient observation that sets apart the matter and energy science approaches to disease

Nutrition Versus Diet

But the energy science approach goes even farther   It takes “diet” to a new science of understanding   Whether you know it or not, you are looking for a nutritional approach to foods   Something that will bring sanity to a confused discipline   “I eat healthy” is a common refrain but virtually has no meaning   The individual defines healthy food choices which are based worn out belief systems that are often physiologically incorrect   So nutrition is a steady guide to override the mind and its food confusion

A nutritional system goes beyond diet because it takes into account appetite or digestive fire(metabolism), incompatible food combinations, bowel activity or the lack thereof, and the psychological effects of food(more about that later)  Nutrition is more than a bunch of molecules you ingest

Until next week                         To Health as a Skill   Love DB

Improving Digestion Helps Heal IC and Chronic prostatitis Part 1

It’s estimated that 50-70% of IC patients have poor digestion as part of their disease process  So it’s a good idea that you understand how to get it healthy as part of the process of healing this chronic disease

The gastrointestinal tract’s digestive strength is likened to a magical forest where trees represent the enzyme and bacterial systems that digest your food(lactose, gluten, carbohydrates, proteins, fats)

But here’s the magic!!  As the trees burn and digest food they replenish themselves and the stronger the individual trees the stronger your ability to digest the food you eat    The weaker the trees the poorer your digestion

In this first of a video series on digestion I discuss what the symptoms are that indicate poor digestion

Nourishment begins by nourishing not the individual trees but the community of trees called the forest

In the next video I’ll show you how you can improve your digestive strength or fire  This is done by nutritional lifestyle behavioral changes which nourish the forest as a whole not just the individual trees

Interstitial Cystitis and the Bladder: The Good News

The pain of your IC flare is related to the movement of the qualities of hot, mobile, and dry   These qualities lead to the burning in the pelvis and on urination as well as the frequency and intense urgency you experience(leading to the rusty zipper syndrome)

These primordial vibrational frequencies(fancy term for qualities) are moving through a long tube in the mindbody   This tube begins in the kidney and ends where the urine comes out when you urinate   It’s that simple!    Energy in the form of urine moves through this channel or tube from the kidney to the bladder and then out when urination occurs

Channel versus Tissue

The good news is that the energetic imbalance of the qualities of hot, mobile, and dry in IC occur in a channel not a tissue   Why is this such good news?  It’s much easier to correct an energetic imbalance in a tube or channel than it is in a dense multicellular tissue layer

Other examples of channels are the gastrointestinal tract(mouth to the anus), the respiratory tube(includes the nose, nasal sinuses, upper airway tubes, and lungs), the male and female genital channels, and the vascular network(both arterial and venous sides)   Other channel disorders besides IC include GERD, IBS, and vulvodynia

There are other energy structures in the energy mindbody that are tissue layers    The muscles of the mindbody are a dense energetic multicellular layer   A lot can go wrong in such a complex structure and so it takes longer to correct a tissue layer problem   Tissue layer disorders include fibromyalgia and chronic prostatitis

Yea!  IC is a Simple Channel Dis-ease

So we’re familiar with those people who develop IC and they have a brief experience with the symptoms but somehow or another there is a spontaneous resolution of the IC and they never have another problem with it   A pure channel problem clears

But then there’s the mixture of channel and tissue energetic imbalance   Here the IC becomes more complex   Tissue imbalances involving hot, mobile, and dry become mixed with the channel imbalance of IC with the experience of the symptoms associated with the dis-ease

From an energy science view this explains the reason why many people don’t get spontaneous resolution but smoulder in the embers of chronic IC   There is a mixture of energetic tissue imbalance coupled with the channel imbalance

Still Good News

Even though there is the energetic imbalance of hot, mobile, and dry in both the tissues and urinary tract channel or tube IC regardless is a channel dis-ease  and will respond to treatments more quickly   It doesn’t mean that the tissue energetic imbalances don’t have to be addressed   They do

But they can be addressed as the symptoms from the urinary channel are resolved by such channel soothing herbs such as CCF tea and aloe vera gel   Just visualize the aloe cooling the hot, mobile, and dry internal lining of the urinary tube just as it soothes the external skin when it’s burned

Ciao  until next week                                                             Your servant in healing  Love DrBill

IC and the Quick Fix: 3 Ways to Understand the Process

What we wish from any healing tradition is a quick way out of our problem whatever it is  The magic pill, the magic operation, the magic whatever  So it is with any formidable chronic disease like the IC bladder pain syndrome(interstitial cystitis, vulvodynia, chronic prostatitis, IBS, GERD, and fibromyalgia)  And intuitively we know there is no such thing but we can still hope that there is something that is going to deal with it  But as a recent visit with a patient who is a gastroenterologist said, “I would have thought you were a...

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit   Aristotle We all create habits that can make us sick or make us healthier  In chronic disease such as the IC bladder pain syndrome(interstitial cystitis, vulvodynia, chronic prostatitis, IBS, GERD, and fibromyalgia) it’s clear as in any other chronic disease that poor choices have been made since we are all responsible for the diseases we create for ourselves But what makes a healthy choice and what makes an unhealthy choice? IC and the Power of Mind: Improving Decision Making

The power of the mind is becoming more and more significant as research shows that in many ways effects on the DNA can impact our behaviors  This becomes important in chronic diseases such as the IC bladder pain syndrome(interstitial cystitis, vulvodynia, chronic prostatitis, IBS, GERD, and fibromyalgia) because as we know mind is a major determinant in healing  How Can We Improve Our Decision Making? Why do we chose one way of doing something rather than another way? Does it make a difference in the greater scheme of things?  And which is...

Oh Good The Antibiotics Fixed Me? An Energy Science Explanation

“Mildred, I’ve got some good news and bad news,” says Dr Jones   “The good news is that you don’t have a urinary tract infection by your culture   But the bad news is that I don’t know why you have these symptoms of frequency and burning”

But then Mildred proceeds to tell Dr Jones that the antibiotic that he prescribed before the culture results were back actually made her feel better

Now both are scratching their heads   But in the end Mildred doesn’t care because her symptoms are better

And Dr Jones is happy his patient got better and that’s all that really matters  “A scientific fluke,” Dr Jones muses

Or Is It a Fluke?

People with IC(interstitial cystitis) can relate to this scenario if you’ve had a UTI   And if you haven’t then you may have had this mystifying clinical illness that got better with antibiotics even though no infection was  present

Typically whenever we can’t explain something in medicine it becomes the unexplainable   But as long as the outcome is acceptable we move on

Is there an explanation to these scenarios that are not explained by the matter science medical discipline?  Yes, there are simple explanations but we have to employ the energy science medical discipline to understand

Taste and Inflammation

There are many inflammatory conditions that are manifested in the physiology that are not associated with bacterial infection  The common cold, most forms of acid indigestion, many joint diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, prostatitis, interstitial cystitis to name a few

The acid taste in Nature is inflammatory due to the hot quality and the opposite of acid is alkaline

The alkaline taste is the bitter taste so if the acid taste is inflammatory then the alkaline taste is antiinflammatory

Antibiotics Carry the Bitter Taste

Oh my gosh!  If I take an antibiotic and I have a nonbacterial inflammatory process such as Mildred’s bladder symptoms then this inflammatory condition can be improved with antibiotics

Even though there is no infection!

So antibiotics can be prescribed for infections that don’t exist and work because of the bitter taste that they carry as signals to the mindbody, “Cool down  Here’s some bitter for you”

The Energy Science Demystifies

The natural extension of this is that if we take foods that decrease the acid or sour taste in Nature and load on the alkaline taste like aloe vera gel then we don’t need the antibiotic

Of course we need the culture information but the use of anbiotics may not be warranted all the time in IC since it’s not an infectious process  It’s an inflammatory noninfectious disease

How the energy science discipline deals with this is based on its model of healing, surely different than the current matter science approach  And the good news is that since it can uncover the origin of disease it can heal it    Something the matter science will not be able to do

IC and the Synergy of Healing: Adding onto the Energetic Effect

“Ok give me the one thing that’s going to clear this IC thing that I have” typically goes the refrain going through our minds as we try to figure it what to do And while we have been programmed to believe that it’s that one pill, the one operation, the one piece of advice that’s going to turn the corner, it’s really not that way  It may be that in an acute situation such as appendicitis that the immediate action of removing the appendix fixes the problem  But even in that clinical scenario there is the...

How To Improve Digestion and IC: 10 Important Energy Science Secrets

The pain of IC occurs because of an imbalance somewhere in inner space   From our previous blogs it’s apparent that from an energy science point of view dis-ease or imbalance in the mindbody occurs due to imbalance of qualities beginning in the GIT(gastrointestinal tract)   This  is particularly important for those who have associated conditions such as GERD, IBS, fibromyalgia, and chronic prostatitis

So the key is correct the imbalance in order to get your life back before IC changed it and turned into a shambles

The Precious Gift

One of the keys to help reduce inconvenient and untimely flares is to develop a healthy GIT which will go a long way toward improving your recovery from IC   But what does it mean to have  a healthy digestive system?

Again from an energy science view it means that we have a strong digestive fire which is defined molecularly as all the digestive enzyme systems from the mouth to the anus including all the organisms that help with digestion, the so called probiotic population

In fact it is said that all we need for great health is a good digestive fire!  It is indeed a fortunate person born with a strong digestive fire and is able to maintain it through her/his lifetime   It is a precious gift that Momma Nature gives us   With such a strong digestion like we had when we children, teenagers, and young adults we could eat anything and we thought it wouldn’t effect us   In part that is true but over time it catches up with us and the fire begins to deteriorate

It’s unfortunate that the matter science view of the human physiology does not have such a concept but that’s the way it goes

10 Things to Improve Digestive Fire

We have written many times about the importance of appropriate nutritional formats for individual mindbody makeups as well as incompatible food combinations   Observance of these is foundational to help improve or maintain the power of your digestive fire

But other things that we can do to enhance digestive strength:

1 Tongue scraping in the morning stimulates digestive enzyme system

2  Use of herbs such as fresh ginger, fresh basil, tumeric, cardamom, fennel, cumin, coriander in your cooking

5 interrogatives of eating:   When to eat the biggest meal of the day

4 Try not eating meals late at night  Best is to use fruit for snacks or late night eating

5 Don’t eat when emotionally upset

6 Only eat when you’re hungry

7 Ice is not nice   Don’t use ice anytime because it cools off the digestion

Exercise regularly

9 No snacks  If need to snack use fresh seasonal fruit

10 Drink milk separately from meals

So there you have it   How to begin improving your digestive fire   Overwhelming?  Just try one a week and before you know it you’ll begin feeling better and bowel activity will begin to normalize(regular bowel movements daily for those who are constipated)

Until next week                                                      Your humble servant in healing   Love Dr Bill
